Ending the need for food banks

It’s not right that anyone needs a food bank. We can change this by ensuring everyone has enough income for the essentials.

We shouldn’t need to distribute emergency food parcels. We won’t stand by and let this continue. We want to live in a society where people involved in food banks right now can instead support their communities in ways that don’t need to include large-scale emergency food provision.

People need food banks when they don’t have enough money and face impossible decisions – whether to put food on the table or pay for heating, whether it’s possible to go without toiletries like shampoo, toilet roll or tampons. Hunger in the UK isn’t really about food. It’s about people not having enough money for the essentials.

Our mission

We exist so everyone in the UK can be free from hunger. We work together to ensure no one needs a food bank to survive. Until that happens, we provide emergency food and practical support for people left without enough money to live on.

How we work

We bring together experiences, evidence and solutions from food banks – and people who've needed them – to build a compelling case for change.
